The 3rd Truth Pill about Vitamin K2 as MK7: ITS FERMENTATION ORIGIN
DESIO, Italy - June 7th, 2019
THE FERMENTATION PRODUCTION:
Is the fermentation production from Bacillus subtilis natto the solution to avoid a synthetic ingredient?
The vitamin K2 as menaquinone-7 (MK7) is a natural vitamin existing in nature, produced exclusively from bacteria, as part of their metabolism.
Bacillus subtilis natto is the clinically studied source of natural MK7, and the observation of the benefits of this relatively new vitamin came from Japan where natto had been historically used together with other fermented foods.
Bacillus subtilis natto employs specific naturally evolved enzymatic pathway that generate naturally the active all-trans isomer of Vitamin MK7. This genus-specific enzymatic reaction represents “an undistinguishable natural signature” of vitamin K2 (MK7) produced by the B. subtilis natto, and was recognized by Gnosis scientists as the starting point of setting up vitamin K2 production platform.
The synthetic process is something far away this simple concept: it produces a mixture of both trans and cis isomers by default, with potential presence of different impurities.
Synthetic production involves aggressive purification processes to separate the biological active form.
Chemical solvents must be applied to extract the trans isomer and eliminate the unnatural and inactive cis forms and other impurities.
A fermentation-derived ingredient obtained by enlarging the microbiological and natural process of production is definitely the same product that is found in nature and therefore it is properly defined “naturally-fermented from Bacillus subtilis natto”. VitaMK7® purity is granted in the product specification; It has been produced for almost two decades, by employing a unique natural microbial source: the Bacillus subtilis natto.
